THE GOLDEN THREAD
BIOGRAPHY WORK
A deeper sense of life
Every life has its own story, and human life has its own rhythms and cycles — phases of becoming, thresholds of change, and passages that ask something different of us.
Throughout human history, people have observed and reflected on these passages, seeking to understand what it means to become fully human - in body, soul and spirit.
Biography work brings these wider perspectives into conversation with your own life, offering a deeper way to understand your experiences, turning points and transitions - and the person you are becoming through them.
Who am I, really?
Biography work offers a way of stepping back and seeing your life as a whole.
What Is Biography Work?
Biography Work is a structured, reflective and developmental practice.
It offers a way to step back and become a witness to our own lives; to see the shape and unfolding of life through guided reflection, recognise the developmental phases and thresholds we move through, and come to know ourselves more deeply.
It is an engaging and rewarding process, often involving creative and experiential exercises and different ways of working with our life story. These can open fresh perspectives and reveal aspects of ourselves that may not emerge through conversation alone.
Looking back at our life is not an exercise in excavating or reliving the past. We look back in order to see more clearly where we are now, and to meet what lies ahead with greater consciousness.
Biography Work is not therapy, although the process of greater self-understanding and perspective can be deeply supportive and naturally therapeutic.
About The Golden Thread Biography Work
My practice is founded on Rudolf Steiner’s understanding of the human being as a developing being of body, soul and spirit, and of life as a journey of ongoing development and becoming.
Holistic Biography Work provides the framework with which this understanding can be explored in an individual life.
The work is enriched by perspectives on human development and consciousness, alongside insights from wider spiritual and philosophical traditions.
Julie MacLeod
As A Biographical Consultant
I guide people in exploring the phases, thresholds and turning points of their lives, helping them gain a deeper understanding of where they are, what this stage of life may be asking of them, and how they might move forward with greater clarity.
My approach is grounded in an anthroposophical understanding of the human being and the developmental journey of life. It has grown from broad and varied professional and life experience, alongside formal study and a lifelong engagement with questions of human development and the inner life.
While every life is unique, human life also has its own rhythms, developmental phases and thresholds. Biography Work offers a way to step back and see the shape and unfolding of your own life, bringing these wider perspectives into conversation with your individual experience.
At the heart of the work is the opportunity to come to know yourself more deeply - to recognise how you have become the person you are, what has shaped you, what matters to you, and what may be emerging as you move forward.
I am a guide in this process. You are the authority on your own life. My role is not to tell you what your life means, but to help you develop the perspective to see it more clearly for yourself.
